superspike23 Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 (edited) hi I tested with only a 2 star StarMine. it sounds bad but I'm happy because both stars have burned in the air. I'm just disappointed in the poor quality of the blue stars. here the video: link-->http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r22ZL_ivVa8&feature=youtu.be Edited July 25, 2012 by superspike23
psyco_1322 Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 Maybe you should try that at night, when you can actually see the color. What was the formula?
superspike23 Posted July 26, 2012 Author Posted July 26, 2012 Maybe you should try that at night, when you can actually see the color. What was the formula?the composition is: Hardt Blue Star # 2 potassium chlorate 65 Copper oxychloride 16 lactose 10 PVC 5 dextrin 4 Add 25% alcohol / 75% water Tonight, three failed stramines 1,5g granulate bp for lift http://youtu.be/iWeUDp8Igjg
superspike23 Posted July 28, 2012 Author Posted July 28, 2012 two new tests failed: http://youtu.be/aGPCPR71a80
Mumbles Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 Have you considered trying a larger star mine containing more than 2 stars? In my thinking on this, unless there stars are well fitting, there will be a lot of potential for blow by of the lift gases. Are you still using the same batch of BP that you posted a video of in the comet bomb problem? If so, the slow lift you showed there will still be slow lift in star mines. That will have to be corrected if you want to ever get appropriate heights.
superspike23 Posted July 28, 2012 Author Posted July 28, 2012 (edited) I will try more size soon. Here are the currently used size: http://img11.hostingpics.net/pics/348531001.jpg I use the black powder that I granulated with 5% dextrin. For these small starmines I take 1.8 grams. Col Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 You could try adding a small wad of kraft above the stars to contain the lift gasses a little longer.
superspike23 Posted August 21, 2012 Author Posted August 21, 2012 new test with tube id 15 mm and lenght 9cm lift uses it: 1 - 1.5g2 - 1.7g3 - 1.0g http://youtu.be/MO8IMWsBvWA
dan999ification Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 indeed, for small stars that are not suited to the bore i make a cup from a circle of card formed over a dowel with a few holes, like a sabot, it will prevent blow by and maximise height, you can also use less lift with this setup, half a gram should lift a 15mm bombette 40-50ft with lifting aid/ disc to prevent blow by.
