oldguy Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Placing the very pride of America in a museum. I am ashamed. http://news.yahoo.com/nasa-moves-space-shuttles-ultimate-piggyback-ride-132802597.html
JFeve81 Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 I've been ashamed ever since they said they were not going to have any more shuttle launches.
dagabu Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 I'm not ashamed at all, she had a good run and it's time to rethink the whole thing, let the DARPA program do all the work. -dag
oldguy Posted April 16, 2012 Author Posted April 16, 2012 (edited) My under standing is she was built with an operational capacity of 100+ flights. She only flew 33. We "had" everything necessary for another 66 flights.Instead she & the launch capacity was gutted. It is an "embarrassment" at least to me, not to mention all Americans. We don't have any way to put men or equipment in orbit. Instead we depend on the Russians & pay them huge sums for the service. Neither I, nor any American should be dependent on Russia for anything. It certainly is not in our best national interests. Edited April 16, 2012 by oldguy
