But we can have a discussion on flash powder. Screaming at every person that has a question about it won't solve anything. A simple search yields all the information anyone needs. A warning about what makes flash dangerous would seem to be much more productive than running people off by telling people to delete their question. Just my 2 cents. Maybe that is how Mumbles wants his forum run. 1

Especially with the crap you recently pulled there. I find that when you jump on folks like these you find that they will do this stuff anyway and now uninformed will find themselves in more trouble than they should have been. They appear to be legal there and he seems to take safety seriously and give multiple warnings about the devices he can legally purchase. It appears he can get time fuse as well as the chemicals to make salutes and makes them whether any of us post here or not. Whether anyone likes it or not, flash and salutes have their place in real pyro. I know my 4" ball shells wouldn't perform nearly as well without a flash bag on the end of the time fuse with 5 g of flash as a booster. It was how I was taught by a very respected member of the pyro community. His instructions let my very first ball shell to be made in about a half hour, shot a few hours later, and performed about as good as a 4" shell can. And it had a huge sky filling break that looked almost as big as some 6" shells. And I'm sure that flash powder is partly why I got such a nice big break. It has it's uses and not just for salutes. It appears the new guy likes salutes. Is that so bad? The average person likes them too as a chest thumping salute is what normally gets the loudest applause from the crowd. Right or wrong, people like them. There are also a subset of pyros who like high explosives. In my experience these guys are really smart and have a much better background in chemistry than the average firework maker. Right or wrong, it is what they like and if they are legally allowed to do so then who cares. He wasn't here asking how to synthesis a primary HE. He had a question about the various oxidizers and fuels used in flash. Maybe he wanted to find out what the safest combination is. Or maybe he wants to make a slower flash that is safer to handle. I really don't know because he erased his question. I don't see the problem in having a mature and intelligent conversation about flash powder. Something that appears to be completely legal in the country he lives in. I actually just arrived at my families second home that is out in the middle of no where. Why? Because I want to experiment with a flash formula that is supposed to be much safer when unconfined. It is claimed to burn about a second per gram of composition when unconfined, yet have flash like speed and power when loaded in a casing. I was planning on reporting my findings assuming anyone wants to discuss it. I, for one, wouldn't mind a discussion about different flash formulas. I really wasn't trying to be a jerk but would like to apologize as I'm sure that is how I sounded. My intent was really just to point out that educating someone can be a lot more positive than banning an entire subject outright. I hope I didn't step on too many toes. I also hope the new member sticks around and is able to gain some knowledge here. 1

Even at 10:00 PM I understand and see the frustration of the K3wL posts, but just because someone can or cannot properly ask a question without sounding like "that generic K3wL" doesnt necessarily consider them any less serious with safety, or knowledge.I personally would also rather educate than persecute and ridicule. There Is No Such Thing As An Unintelligent Person... Only An Uneducated Person. now, lets stop trying to make trouble with another and remember why we are all here.

If you want to make warnings about flash powder safety, that is fine. I of all people understand what it can look like when a person comes to a forum asking about flash right away. I found this forum due to the post about various metal/oxidizer substitutions in flash powders drawing this forum up on the search engine. Instead of finding useful information I was disgusted by nighthawklightintheloafers whining. If I were the moderator I would instantly ax members that rape topics then try to make the rest of the members pray to God he gets colon cancer and dies just so they never have to read another post! Nobody needs you to explain yourself either, it's obvious you endured many years of Saudi bachelor party style abuse from a poly addicted uncle as that is the only scenario that could produce such a huge A-hole! Now back to searching for color educing oxidizer/metal substitutions/additions for flash powders elsewhere as I would rather not chance reading one more word from that foul being. 1

That's the way APC Forum is. I've been told by many people discussing Flash elsewhere. They "school" everyone on Flash that asks about it and it boosts their self-esteem for being a moderator. I've pointed out before that it would make sense to provide correct information on how to make and handle Flash safely rather than let a person find out on youtube.
