Dean411 Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 (edited) This was a first attempt the very large ones formed after I scraped the bottom of the rollerI think it went fairly well.next time I need to mix about 4 or 500 g so I wont run out in the middle of rolling. Chuleo Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 What kind of composition is it? Some roll much better than others. If some of the composition sticks on the bottom of the bucket remove the stars then scrape the composition off and use it to form ascending comets. The best way to start rolling stars is: 1.Take an easy to roll composition like veline. (Not Tigertail, Willow or other high charcoal content)2. Use heavy star cores such as lead shot. If you use small and light cores, your stars might stick together if u use too much water.3. Add small amounts of composition and water.4. Use a bottle with a very fine spray to get your water enely distributed.5. If dextrin bound: use 75%water/25%ethanol if redgum bound: plain ethanol if parlon bound: acetone or MEK6. BE PATIENT!
Dean411 Posted December 28, 2011 Author Posted December 28, 2011 Emerald.green mg/alBarium nitrateMg/AlRed gumPVCSgrs 75/25 water and alcohol. I used #9 shot quite smallas the cores as u said it started slow but; once they got going it went relatively quick.
