Peret Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 I'm sitting here chewing on my cookie and wondering at what size of motor one needs to use a press, as opposed to ramming.
Mumbles Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 With a big enough hammer you can ram any size.
Invogue Posted December 25, 2010 Posted December 25, 2010 Here's one I launched today... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wrb1KQ2LTXg
psyco_1322 Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 Little something for Christmas. http://pyrobin.com/files/mvi_0014_xvid.avi

OneEyeCharlie Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 The leaves on the first rocket sure had nice hangtime/duration
Algenco Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 The first set of leaves looked great, the others so so I love it when not so perfect attempts are posted, makes me feel better
dagabu Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 The first set of leaves looked great, the others so so I love it when not so perfect attempts are posted, makes me feel better Uh, thanks? What was wrong with them ?
Algenco Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 you made em They didn't seem as bright or last as long
Algenco Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 Actually the one thing I don't like about rockets is the distance. When the shell fires sometimes it's dificult to determine how well it performed.
dagabu Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 Yes, that is really the issue with these leaves, they were launched on my Super-Duper-Hybrid-Fueled 3# rockets to about 1000 feet. The reason for this was to allow the leaves plenty of time to burn out before they touched the ground. I will be using 1# rockets on the next trial and then move to 8 oz. rockets if they still are too high. The reason I post these videos is so that you all can tear them apart and tell me what is wrong with them (all but Algenco, you got it coming for sure!) so that I know what to improve.
Algenco Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 they worked, at this point that's my main concern, refinements will come
WonderBoy Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 (edited) I just got a new press, so I've been pondering rockets to make. Any suggestions? Here's a 1lb Whistle assisted stinger and a test of some medium-fast whistle fuel (the stick was pretty quarky and I don't think the fast take off helped any). Stinger_and_Mediumfast_whistle.wmv I really like having a non-sketchy press, it makes everything so much easier. Edited January 15, 2011 by WonderBoy
NightHawkInLight Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Those sure did rip off the pad, pretty cool.
Epyro Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 Just shot this baby > http://www.youtube.c...h?v=zfXxylaXsxUWanted to see what these stars looked like in a shell.Only saw them from a stargun, i know they are supposed to glitter but i like the streamer effect.
dagabu Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 Not mine but still fun. This is why hard hats are a great idea!

Ralph Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Not mine but still fun. This is why hard hats are a great idea! that hit with one hell of a thump
dagabu Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 that hit with one hell of a thump Here is one of mine from last year. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKn5S2PgAV8
NightHawkInLight Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Here is one of mine from last year. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKn5S2PgAV8Wow. That would have hurt! What killed the thrust mid way?
FrankRizzo Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Wow. That would have hurt! What killed the thrust mid way? Sounded like the nozzle blew out.
dagabu Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Yup, right about apex, the nozzle broke (stupid waxed clay) and the rocket turned around to make a pretty gerb.
