TheSidewinder Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 I think you did a very good job on that shell. Way to go!
qwezxc12 Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 I fired This tonight, it was a 4" gummed tape shell, it was my first colour changing so to speak. what do you think? Very nice! Care to share details of the star comps? Not many people roll DE onto stars as a layer...it looked (and sounded) very nice. Did you roll the DE with NC lacquer over the blue cores?
Sambo Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 Thanks for the comments, the blue was Pihko KP and CuO blue then the layer of small dragons eggs (<60 mesh) were rolled along with si prime with water/alc solution, then win 20 to finish.
FREAKYDUTCHMEN Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 Here is a 3lb whistle rocket I've fired a vieuw hours ago:3lb Ti whistle with header
Miech Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 I think we should plan a meeting one of these days . Really nice rocket.
oskarchem Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 So my Silver streamer mine: (A bit too little stars, on the next one there should be enough.. I love these stars) And the Silver stremer comet: (To little lift (Just starting with PB lift,) and these stars jet like hell)
FrankRizzo Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 (edited) Here's a video of a 4lb strobe with 4" ball shell filled with Tiger Tail stars on top, failing catastrophically. The white specs are coarse titanium that I put in the delay section. I think I cracked the grain on this one while removing it from the spindle. I purposely left in the bystander comments because they are so relevant to the rocket's performance. The voice you here at the beginning talking about jinxing himself is Dan Creagan of the MoPyro's. You can hear my friend and I exclaiming when it appears that the fuse has fallen out just before ignition. Turn up your speakers for this one. http://pyrobin.com/files/vlcsnap-11577953.pnghttp://pyrobin.com/files/spectacular%204lb...robe%20cato.avi BTW, Dan's rocket fired next , and it worked perfectly...no jinx. cplmac Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 (edited) This is the show my brother and I do every year, it's a HUGE file but a fun watch. Warning, 554 MB file, my site will push it just fine but if you are on dial up you should probably skip this one. RanchBlast 2007 I enjoyed the vid Frank, I think some of us have seen that play out many times.... Edited September 20, 2008 by cplmac
justanotherpyro Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 Here are the 6" shells from my July 4th shoot. There were several 3" and 4" shells as well but I don't want to hassle with the video splitter any more unless there were ones that worked exceptionally well. 6" red with glitter pistil 6" glitter 6" TT 6" Shell of shells. This one worked out alright, I didn't break it very hard so that the shells would all ignite, but it still looked good.
oskarchem Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Nice shells, JAP! Well maybe apart for the 6" red with glitter pistil.
justanotherpyro Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Yeah I had some issues making the stars for that one, and decided not to remake them because I didn't want to use up 600g more of red comp.
cplmac Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 http://theskypainters.com/Pictures/Big%20Rocket/Big%20guy.JPG Coming soon.
Mumbles Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Cpl, please tell me thats a 12" shell. I am already very excited.
TheSidewinder Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Good god... THAT is one rocket I want to see fired!
cplmac Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Cpl, please tell me thats a 12" shell. I am already very excited. That is a 12" shell, my first. It is loaded with 64 1.75" 75g TT comets, I thought originally that TT would be a good way to keep the weight down but this shell is 20+ pounds which is spot on for any commercial 12. I'm hoping to have it airborne before the week is over.
FREAKYDUTCHMEN Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 What kind of burstcharge did you use? Only BP?
optimus Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Yowzers, that's quite a beast! Good luck with the launch, and lots of video please!
cplmac Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 What kind of burstcharge did you use? Only BP?The burst is BP on hulls dusted with 60g of flash.
TheSidewinder Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Mac, you DO plan on getting good video of that monster, don't you? It would make a perfect addition to the Gallery here.
oskarchem Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Good god, that is one hell of a rocket. How much does that motor weigh?
FREAKYDUTCHMEN Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 The burst is BP on hulls dusted with 60g of flash.Goodluck!
