cplmac Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Those things really scoot, and quite a long burn. Are those whistle end burners?
pudidotdk Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 h&k, nice rockets.Try typing %20 where the space in the link is, it will make the link clickable
cplmac Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Forgot to post this one, it's another one I made for the WPAG shoot. 6 pound step whistle
Pretty green flame Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 Nicely done. Can you post a couple of specs (Nozzle dia., fuel)
qwezxc12 Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 Really nice! What size stick did you stabilize it with?
h&k machineguns Posted September 10, 2007 Author Posted September 10, 2007 Those things really scoot, and quite a long burn. Are those whistle end burners? Those both are whistle rockets
cplmac Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 Whistle tooled whistles or end burn whistles?
h&k machineguns Posted September 16, 2007 Author Posted September 16, 2007 Whistle tooled whistles or end burn whistles? All my whistle rockets are core burners. I haven't got to try a end burner yet.
cplmac Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 You'll love the duration. Those things burn forever, and if you can get a strong enough nozzle in there you can choke the crap out of it and get massive thrust off little fuel burn.
cplmac Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 3" Ti Whistle headed with 5 2.5" + 2 3" salutes This was one loud bastard, very penetrating sound in person on liftoff, there was a ton of low frequency in the thrust.
qwezxc12 Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Awesome. How's your leg?...Glad you're still making big-ass rockets.
cplmac Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 The leg is good thanks for asking, it's a bit itchy. I figured out how to describe the liftoff sound, it sounds like a balloon when you blow it all the way up the let go of it, but exponentially louder.
Cherbanov Posted September 20, 2007 Posted September 20, 2007 Awesome rocket you got there cplmac. you are a big inspire. I love your big ass rockets they kill!!! can´t wait untill the next one.
cplmac Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 2.5" TT with hollow curl mag comet I've had this hollow curl mag from FireFox in my chem cabinet for almost a year so I figured may as well try it in something. Since I have more TT than I know what to do with I figured what the hell may as well try it in there. The Mag smoldered for a few seconds and then burned like white falling leaves all the way to the ground. It was very impressive in person and I can't wait to do some more experiencing with it.
Wyvern Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 Here is a video of my first 3lb whistle, i was a little disapointed with the power but it was made with the leftover of my whistle which is a week or so old. It also had a 2.5" plastic shell header witha mis of D1 glitter and meal+5% MgAl stars. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCDW9E_1RuQ#GU5U2spHI_4
WarezWally Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 Very nice, i love when shells break upward like that.
cplmac Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 3" Copper Oxychloride Whistle rocket with 6 2.5" comet head Kind of disappointing from a volume standpoint but flew pretty straight.
NightHawkInLight Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Cplmac, that was a great video! You have a great camera for picking up your rockets.
h&k machineguns Posted October 23, 2007 Author Posted October 23, 2007 3" Copper Oxychloride Whistle rocket with 6 2.5" comet head Kind of disappointing from a volume standpoint but flew pretty straight. That was probably the best sounding rocket yet. How far would you say you were from it, or should I say how far was the cemera mic from it ?
hst45 Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Space shuttle radio traffic with mission control. Let's listen in..... "This is the shuttle, calling Houston. Every thing's going fine up here, we're 14 nautical miles down range passing 172,000 feet of altitude.....holy shit, Houston....something just PASSED us. Damn you cplmac!" Another excellent rocket.
Mumbles Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Hell of a blast. Did you actually wet paste it? I couldn't tell from the other descriptions you gave. It may also be adventageous, if you did wet paste it, to use a thinner paper. The 80lb you mentioned would be far more likely to leave some airgaps for flame to travel in than something thinner. There was some discussion over on passfire about the lift going off at the end. Do you really think thats the case? Theres no way that thing didn't set the lift off
cplmac Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Yeah looking at the video for the twentieth time I do think it was the lift. It makes perfect sense as far as why the shell went in the gun. It was a tight fit, and the remainder of the gun was only about 4 inches tall. I think when the lamp went it blew the fuel down into the lift area like you said. The fuel bottom was on the bottom of the shell, the flash break was on top.
