fred815 Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 Got a lot of willow trees around here( midwest). Does anybody know of a website (whatever) that can help me identify what kind of willow tree I might have. Especially by bark (pictures)?? Lord knows I've tried??I know it's NOT weeping willow.
dan999ification Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 take a piece just thicker than your thumb and snap it, if it makes a good crack it is probably crack willow even fresh wood will crack loudly with enough force, this is what i use, the shizzle.the bark has a yellowish look in the right light on the younger parts, and i would recognise it anywhere. kilmarnoch willow has a red bark on some leaf bearing parts of the tree.theres also black and white willow.over 75 species in america, what about a pic of the bark and leaves on a branch? dan.
