50AE Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 I'm talking about this formula: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRhATzZlS_8 At close distance it seems very nice, but when shot in a shell and seen at maybe 200m distance, it looks like a dim pink. It's not attactive, but kind of ugly. Check the shell that burst at 0:48 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KpaFomUdbsg I was thinking about adding some metal or maybe increasing the copper oxychloride and decreasing the carbonate to make them look more purple. What do you think?
Bcorso85 Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Try thisMagenta Formula 10% Potassium Perchlorate 40% Strontium Nitrate 20% Parlon 10% Magnalium 5% Dextrin 15% Copper Oxide 5% Sulfur 5% Charcoal (Air Float)
Jwdrummer5 Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Do you have a picture or video of that comp, looks simmilar to the veline comp but with added sulfur and charcoal?
Mumbles Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 It's a rounded off or modified version of a star published by Jim Freeman.
FREAKYDUTCHMEN Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 You'll need mgal in them. Some blue's without mgal look nice too, when they are watched close, but from a further distance it's not that nice.
Potassiumchlorate Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 I use this composition from Pyroguide. Some say it's not the original composition, but it works fine for me: Strontium nitrate 38Potassium perchlorate 8Parlon 18Magnalium <63 µm 12Copper carbonate 10Charcoal, airfloat 5Sulfur 5Dextrin 4
Mumbles Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 That is the exact original composition from Jim Freeman. I like it. It's always been listed as a purple, but it's really more of a magenta. It's very much on the red side of purple as would be expected by the relative amounts of strontium vs. copper.
Jwdrummer5 Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Oops, you're right. Veline comp uses strontium carbonate.
