DeepOvertone Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 First consult ye the book of pyro! Book of pyro chapter 2 verses 9-21: First take ye up 75 measures of saltpeter, no more, no less. 75 measures shalt thou take up and the measure thou shalt take up will be 75. Do not take up 74 measures, unless then moving on to 75 measures. Neither take ye up 76 measures but only taking up 75 measures may you continue. Adding to this shall be 15 measures of charred wood. The best of these is made from the charred wood of a childs crutch, only having been in service for many years and stolen from the child and soaked in witches blood for one year. Also, willow is pretty good. After taking up 15 measures of the charred wood, add to this mixture 10 measures of brimstone. Having ground this mixture under the feet of peasants for a period of 3 months shalt thou have a mixture capable of blowing the Lords enemies to tiny bits(in His mercy). And the Lord will grin, and the people shall feast on the lambs, and sloths, and carp, and anchovies, and orangutans, and breakfast cereals, and fruit bats. Amen!
stckmndn Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Well, mark of the beast, or can we just call you Mark? The above is a most excellent description of making the most important part of our hobby, black powder (BP). For additional reading this is a good beginners guide. Introductory Practical Pyrotechnics Or you may wish to spend a lot of time reading on that website for free. Good luck. And please ask questions first before you blow yourself up.

DeepOvertone Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 (edited) Of course! As long as you give me credit for it! Edited July 5, 2011 by DeepOvertone
Mumbles Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Probably the best overall book on the subject is Pyrotechnics by Alexander Hardt. It covers a little bit of everything and then some. It is however not a how-to type of book.
PersonGuyDude Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 DeepOvertone, that made me laugh so hard! Loved it

This reads a bit like the testament of Nicolas Flamel save for that he was talking about making the philosopher's stone
