Nevermind. I found the answer. A fuse canulle.

A cannule is a central cavity in a canister shell in which the burst is contained.

Yeah I know. Dag, in his timed reports tutorial, refers to the sleeve for the fuse as the fuse canulle (IIRC). The burst, at least in my mind, is contained in the burst canulle. The more canulles the merrier.

EDIT: To clarify - In Tom's canister headers a premade canulle of 1 wrap of 30# kraft is glued down to the bottom disc. The stars / other garnitures are loaded and the "burst" canulle is then filled. It's a very neat and easy way to do it.

Time to dust off this thread.

Hey Dag, when you make round shells for rocket headers, do you just roll up a fuse canulle to pass fire to the center of the shell like you did with the timed report can?

Those round shells are just too pretty to ignore, even if it does mean pasting. Blah.

Thanks

Yup, I followed a well known small shell builders advice and roll hundreds of 3-4 turn tubes on a 1/8" mandrel and use those for my passfire tube to the center of the shell using fast paper fuse.

I have an Altoid tin filled with 'em. I use a dollar store skewer to roll up 2" X 3.5" strips of thin masking paper with white glue. Then I cut them to suit. They are the same OD as my awl and fit snugly in the bottom discs. They accept the "Quickfuse" (Cannonfuse) perfectly. The quickfuse is two strands of blackmatch in a paper casing. It's the closest thing to quickmatch available to me without having to make it.
