Bangkokpyro Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Here is a short video showing Thai Girandolas being primed and launched. The video was taken in May this year at a rocket competition in Sakgeow Province. The locals place bets on the flight time. Longest time from launch to touchdown wins. The comp pressed to over 2 tons in the steel tube is pretty coarse stuff, you can see particles of Sulphur and Charcoal clearly in the rough mix. You might think it a pretty dodgy thing to do filling a steel pipe with a B.P mix but they never cato...the comp is far too coarse. These are 'small' versions, they make bigger types up to 35 ft diameter with a different construction technique.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkq7vcXWWiU
nater Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 I liked the spiral plume of smoke it left behind, hard to believe they fly that well. What are the leaves for?
Bangkokpyro Posted June 13, 2011 Author Posted June 13, 2011 High tech packing material they just keep the tube from wobbling around on the launch stand.
