fredhappy Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 Well done 50AE !. I can clearly see the colour change. You can be even more pleased as this is your first try. It's great when something works good the first time you try it , er? .....
davis050594 Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 Very nice. What prime did you use to protect the stars from the bp? Also, is that loose copper oxychloride sitting out????
BJV Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 Real nice shell. I sure like the Blue. Thanks for sharing,BJV
50AE Posted May 22, 2011 Author Posted May 22, 2011 (edited) davis, the stars are primed with BP to ensure their ignition.Yes, it's copper oxy in the back. Edited May 22, 2011 by 50AE
davis050594 Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 I just went outside and made a purple formula. I added 25% oxychloride to ruby red. I am going to shoot the stars tonight. I'll upload video. Might need some fine tuning. Anywho, that to say, if it works well tonight you should try some out.
50AE Posted May 23, 2011 Author Posted May 23, 2011 Here's the video showing how the shell was made http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQ9iL4N5CSk
Mumbles Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 I don't think the Japanese use that much hot glue Do you find any difference in performance between using the 3 section hemi method over assembling them separately and snapping the two halves together?
50AE Posted May 24, 2011 Author Posted May 24, 2011 (edited) Mumbles, I doubt any big difference can be seen if the coupling method is thoroughly done. The main reason I do the 3 section method is the hemis. They are not as strong as pressed ones and if I overfill the shell and start taping hard on it, the flanges could collapse. It never has happened though. The 4" blue&glitter shell which many of you liked was built with the coupling method and performed great. Edited May 24, 2011 by 50AE
