pyrogeorge Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 Hi,I found a motor at 40rpm and i plan to make a new star roller.. First of all,how can i calculate the final rpm?For example,if i use a 8inch bucket. 40rpm is perfect for star roller, but how can i give the same rpm as motor's at the bugket without loose revolutions?
mfstraydog1 Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 (edited) If you are looking to get the same RPM on your bucket as your motor. You can directly hook your motor to your bucket. if u are planing to use some sort of pulley system. Your pulleys would have to have to be the same size so your drive line ratio is 1:1. for example a pulley that is attached to the back of your bucket is 3" then you would have to use a 3" pulley of some sort on you motor.but here is a quick equation that might help you out. A = Motor pulleyB= Pulley on bucketC= Motor RPMD= Bucket RPM A/B=C/D All this is, is a ratio so just plug in the numbers that you have to figure out what you are looking for. i think this is the right equation if not i am sure some one will correct me. pyrogeorge Posted May 22, 2011 Author Posted May 22, 2011 thanks mike! Also, i want to remove the bucket easily to remove the stars for sizing..any ideas on the design?i search, but i didn't find anything.
Mumbles Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 The simplest way I've seen to do that is permanently attach one bucket to the motor, and have a second identical bucket to nest inside of that. This is based on 5 gallon buckets, so if you only have one bucket or they don't nest this wouldn't work.
NightHawkInLight Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 (edited) This is likely not the design you want to go with for a 40 rpm motor, but it may have some good info for you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0W_1P_0xbE Edited May 23, 2011 by NightHawkInLight

toster Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 Most have a ball mill, of a roller design. Could you just use a golfcart tire or simmilar sized tire and put the stars in there, and set it on the ball mill roller?
