Raggytosh97 Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help me with a tutorial of how to many any color stars just any colored stars does not matter what color with a good demonstration on how to make them, i have been looking over youtube and on the internet i just could not find a tutorial. Also the next thing will be how to make the ball shell or a cylinder shell with stars we made. i am a newbie in this so i really need help. I would probably be wanting to make a 3' to 6" shell. All i need is someone to give me a tutorial in *making coloured firework stars also * then making a ball shell or a cylinder shell with the coloured firework stars that we made. if anyone can get back to me ASAP that would be great!! Thanks Raggytosh97
Maximus Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Hi Raggy! I'm really quite new as well and have recently been doing my own poking around on here for info on rolling stars. So far I've been able to make cut stars and pressed stars with a plate very easily. This is where I'd recommend you start. As a beginner you have a lot to learn about chemical compatability, safety, measuring, converting, screening, etc. Just getting your comp together can be overwhelming to start. And that's before you try to make stars out of it! There are tons of good tutorials on youtube and on this forum if you're looking closely enough. Keep searching. And also know that nobody on here is going to just hand you the "keys to the castle" or the "holy grail" of fireworking. You need to show that you've done some work on your end first. What chemicals do you have for starters? Do you have a set of screens for your chems? The prices aren't great but skylighter has a couple of tutorials you could benefit from reading.....several times; how to make cut stars, use a star plate, make bp, etc. Good luck! Max
AirCowPeacock Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 There is no holy grail of fireworking, except perhaps trial and error. I would not suggest starting out with rolled stars. I have been making cut and pumped stars for years (in my opinion pumped stars are only good for comets, have you tried making enough pumped stars to fill a a 3" ball shell with them?) I have just started rolling, and it is a bit frustrating. Point two is, start with starmines. They are a very beautiful, easy, cheap, and safe way to test out your stars and BP, the foundations in fireworking. There is no shame in starting out with really small shells. 1"-2" are great. They are low commitment, and when you mess up (and you will) very little will be lost, and you will be ready to try again. No need to burn down a grass feild on your first shoot! Skylighter is a great information resource, but their items are a bit on the pricy side. Check out 'Supplier Reveiws' for ideas on where to shop in your area. Fireworking a beautiful and rewarding art, with litterly endless possiblities. The more you explore pyrotechnics the more you will be in awe with it. There are surprises around every corner!
Raggytosh97 Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 But the thing is i cant buy from Skylighter because im from the U.K, it will cost loads to ship. By the way thanks for that advise guys.
Maximus Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 (edited) Sure you don't have to buy anything. Just scope out the website and read the articles. It's a good resource for a beginner. Edited November 27, 2012 by Maximus
AirCowPeacock Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Its a good resource for everyone, beginner to advanced.
Algenco Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 a lot of the articles at skylighter (the best ones) were written by Ned Gorski, Ned is very thorough when making tutorials.
AirCowPeacock Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 (edited) Indeed, Ned makes absolutely wonderful tutorials that anyone can understand. Edited November 27, 2012 by AirCowPeacock
