ballmill Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 I have a small harbor freight tumbler that was used to pulverize KCIO3 back before I knew about coffee grinders. I would now like to use this to make small amounts of BP rocket comps to test with. If I scrub and clean the jar with soap and water will that be enough to safely add and mill a composition including sulfur?
Ralph Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 just as an additional precaution I would mill some charcoal or or charcoal and sulfur in the mill before milling bp that way it cleans up any of the traces (which may or may not be there) by "dilution"
Bonny Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 (edited) I have a small harbor freight tumbler that was used to pulverize KCIO3 back before I knew about coffee grinders. If I scrub and clean the jar with soap and water will that be enough to safely add and mill a composition including sulfur? Don't bother cleaning. Although it would most likely remove all the chlorate, get another jar. The risks are not worth it. Safety is more important than saving a few bucks. Edited March 21, 2011 by Bonny
