moondogman Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 This looks like what I would want to build: http://www.amateurpyro.com/forums/gallery/image/44-pgi%25202004%2520011ajpg/ I would want to go air powered hyd. What size and length cylinder would I need and where can I get them cheap?? As well as the pump. Thanks Steve
dagabu Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 I strongly encourage you to not use pneumatic pressure to press rockets. Air stores pressure and that pressure can be released when a piece of tooling is cocked, a support fails, a motor pops etc... Hydraulic is so much safer.

No I meant air powered hydraulic or air over hydraulic or however its worded. The press you built with an air powered motor instead of a electric powered motor would be wonderful. I just need to find the bore and stroke of they cylinder and where to get one cheap. The motor im talking about is somthing like this. I read a post somwhere in these forums about somone modifying a grizzley press to air over hyd. Sure sounds better than pumping. Steve Edited March 13, 2011 by moondogman
dagabu Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Air over hydraulic is what I have heard it called. I had an air over but hated it, in fact, it sits in the corner of my shop waiting for someone to get it out of there. Its noisy, slow and inefficient. I would spend the money on a powerpack first if I did it over.
