The_Duke Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 What a delightfully wonderful topic! I drink allot of beer, actually I drank 2 cases of Carling lager this weekend alone! What can I say other than I really like beer! I like so many different kinds of beer it's hard to say what my favorite is but I'd have to say OV (Old Vienna), it's a very good lager beer with a nice full taste, unlike Budweiser, yuck... My favorite whisky (Notice Canadians don't spell whisky like Americans) is of course, Crown Royal and my favorite rum is Bacardi white. All this talk about beer is making me really thirsty, haha, I'm going to grab a beer…
Mumbles Posted September 11, 2006 Author Posted September 11, 2006 I am personally kind of a jack daniels kind of guy. As noticable by the 6 jack and cokes I had last night, in addition to plenty of beer(miller lite, not exactly my idea of beer). Me and tequilla also have good times together. I haven't gotten to try a whole lot of beers. At college, at least here, you pray to get miller lite. Usually it is the standard natural light, blatz, or milwaukee's best light. I personally am a fan of lagers. Sam adams boston lager is always a good choice. I am also a fan of Leinenkugel's Original, and red. The original is a good all around college beer in my opinion. It's cheap, goes down well for games, and it actually has taste. I had a good one a few weeks ago. New Glarus Brewery's Fat Squirrel. I can't even begin to describe it, but it had a hazelnut character, and was really good. It's hard to pick out a favorite really. Capital Brewery has good stuff too.
Draco_Aster Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 Australian beer owns you Americans. Carlton MID is the best IMO. But my favourite drink has to be whiskey. Still has that beer like afertaste . My dad has some 50 year old stuff and it is smoooothe.
Rooster Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 Yeah, whisky is nice. Norway has some good beers, and a lot of shitty cheap ones. Ringnes is good, the most known norwegian. Swedish beer is crap, eastern european beer is great, like Urquell. I think american beer is piss, but if you can get the Czech Budweiser, its much much better. I'm kinda a Jack person too. He is always by your side when times get tough. Like it better straight or on the rocks than with coke though.
TheSidewinder Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Any of the offerings from our local Summit Brewing Company. I especially liked the Winter Porter. And normally, I don't drink at all. MI agree, the Porter is most excellent. Once it goes to bottle though, it gets a harsher character. Me and a buddy just took the Sat. tour early last month...you cannot beat the freshness of the taps there. Rogue: See if you can find Delerium Tremens, a fairly big Belgian Ale made by Huyghe. You live in the Cities, Frank? I thought you were East Coast. Must be a brainfart. And yeah, you have to get any Summit offering very fresh. IIRC, they use NO preservatives? They also make a Bock, the name of which escapes me, that is very good. M
optimus Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 I like my beer strong : ) Singah is good, from Thailand. I also enjoy drinking Duvell, Leffe, and various other 'trappist' beers. I tend to steer well away from English lager, as it is possibly the worst lager in the world (bar Budweiser). Some of the Scottish/English ales are worth drinking, especially Scottish heather ale, which is apparently the oldest type of ale which is still produced today. http://www.thebrewsite.com/2006/08/30/fraoch_heather_ale.php I also drink alot of fine whisky - expensive Scottish single malts being the favourite.
Mardec Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Strange, everybody here doesn't like budweiser Nja I just like it so.. (drink mine bottled) And everybody does like whisky here.. I only have bad experieces with it.. Once I had a whisky cola and it tasted so bad I almost had to puke Next time I am in a bar I am going to order a Whisky to try it again. Could it be possible they only put cheap stuff in whisky cola at louzy bars? Maybe I don't belong here on this forum
h0lx Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 ouch, I had a case of different Leffes from belgium... too strong.. only alcoholic beverages I like are whiskey and beer(well in clubs I go with bacardy and coke) My fave brand of whiskey is Red Label, but on money shortage(most of the times) I will have to settle with Howard MacLaren, which is also good..
Mardec Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Red label it will be, next time in club or bar I will take one of those I like white martini (no I am no fag ) and red wodka. Jenever is good too. Pure wodka tastes like the ethanol I use in school lab so I don't drink it.. At least not pure And last but not least, I love cocktails.Especially Mohito (made with bacardi rum, not the cheap stuff) And leffe beer is pretty strong huh holx You need to buy Westmalle triple, that is 12 degres alcohol.. But it is very good, especially with some cheese. There is the blond one and the darker one. I like the dark one better. Btw you Americans have a lot of Belgian beers I noticed?
h0lx Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Well we have a variety of 7,5-12ers too, which are cheap, in big 2l bottles and generally referred to as "bumbeer"
FrankRizzo Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 You live in the Cities, Frank? I thought you were East Coast. Must be a brainfart. And yeah, you have to get any Summit offering very fresh. IIRC, they use NO preservatives? They also make a Bock, the name of which escapes me, that is very good. MYou're thinking about MaiBock, right? That's actually my favorite Summit beer, the EPA comming in a very close second. I hear the oatmeal stout is good too. My moniker is just a pseudonym. I don't live in the Cities, but I'm close enough that my buddies and I drive down there a few times a year. Visited the brewery on Aug. 5. A project at work prevented me from going to the convention, so I spent the weekend down there as a "mini vacation"...spent most of it at Brit's and Kieran's. You weren't touring Summit that same Sat. were you?
TheSidewinder Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 No, I was at the PGI. MaiBock. Yeah, that was it. Good stuff, as is the Extra Pale Ale. Haven't tried the Oatmeal Stout. Sounds good, though. Next time you and the friends swing thru the Cities, let me know! I'll join ya for a tour or something. Kieran's Irish Pub... upstairs from Patrick O'Briens? Just a few blocks away from where I live. Later.M
joker5 Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 budweiser, incinerator pale ale(local brew) , jaegermeister+ red bull---- jaegerbomb

rocket Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Also known as a cask as well. Ah the number of time I’ve seen bums staggering around with one, lol.
Mumbles Posted October 18, 2006 Author Posted October 18, 2006 Never seen that particular brand, but we do have similar products, such as Franzia. This leads to games like wine pong, wine bongs, and the epic "Tour of Franzia"(yes, it involves a bicycle). I myself do prefer better wine though. I've even grown out of the jug of wine, a big step, though they make good chemical containers.
aquaman Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Corona, and budweiser select. All I drink (beer wise ) If I'm desperate Miller light or highlife will do also.
vongeetch Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 If I'm out on a roll with the wife, its Guinness or Sam Adams. I like good dark stouts, and an occasional 1/2 pint of Finlandia Vodka. I'm Irish and the lady of the house is a Finlander. What a pair, hey!!! Otherwise we both can settle for bottled Bud. at home, its a "we bit cheaper". Also like checking out the different "micro breweries " that have been popping up in the U.S. Good beer is like Pyro, it can always be improved on thru expierimentation and analasys.
