mabuse00 Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 Hi, I never loocked into BP stars before and I've just finished my first batch of C6 Mix.I used pine charcoal, came dusty fine from the dealer. No Ballmill available. Can you suggest me a proper size? I generally prefer bigger stars/small comets, no matter if they hit the ground, at least not for the fist tests.
Arthur Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 It really does depend on the intended nominal diameter of your shell, and your intended burst height. Probably a fair start point would be to make the stars 1/10 - 1/8 of the nominal diameter of the shell. BUT this is only my idea of a good place to start testing. A normal shell rises to about 100x nominal diameter + 100 feet. (So a 4" shell should likely get to 500ft) this allows for a good break diameter and if required some falling tails without anything reaching ground level. Your design preference may vary and you must do proper testing.
