50AE Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 (edited) I am currently making (and already made) star formulas with the following colors: (blue, purple (and variatons of purple), green and red). For now I have 3 formulas. I had already posted the blue formulas in the pyrotechnics forum. I won't post the formula 3 here, because it requires more caution to work with.I will keep you in touch about new composition with time. I am currently working on the green and more purple on the blue side.My primary goal is to obtain cheap and good looking colors, which must be handled fine. 50AE blue 1 deeper KClO3 : 66Cu oxy : 13Lactose : 12PVC : 6Dextrin : 4 50AE blue 2 brighter KClO3 : 67Cu oxy : 13Shellac : 4PVC : 8Dextrin : 4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7LXfXsZyO8c 50AE magenta (Cu oxy and SrCO3 ratio can be modified. More oxy and less SrCO3 will give a more blue purple. ) KClO3 : 67Cu oxy : 7SrCO3 : 6Shellac : 6PVC : 6Dextrin : 4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRhATzZlS_8 Edited February 28, 2011 by 50AE 1
Mumbles Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 My favorite purple on the blue side of the things is the one popularized by Steve Majdali. He uses a 62:38 ratio of blue colorant(CuO) to red colorant (Sr(NO3)2). Admittedly, it functions a bit differently from a typical "standard" star, but it might be a good place to start for a color more to your liking.
Cookieman Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Very nice job on those star comps.50.My favourite was the second blue comp.I like it better than the conkling blue comp. that I use.
