Pont Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Just having a browse around the net yesterday and I found several articles on rust removal via electrolysis. Funny thing was that nearly all specified not to use stainless as a anode and to only use washing soda (sodium carbonate) cant any ionic compound be used. They also described that the rust just flaked off and the anode was never corroded. From high school chemistry I thought that the rust would deposit on the anode and the Fe irons deposited on the other Fe piece connected to the cathde. Can anyone explain to me what is happening in this situtation. Heres a pretty typical site where I was looking. http://www.instructables.com/id/E17UQMY28PEQ6T2A5Z?ALLSTEPS
