plener Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 anyone have experience using or foolin with copper nitrate for making blue stars?--did some searching on it to no avail cost here in the states does not appear to be excessive. tiapeteri have tried to get info re deliquescent to no avail
Mumbles Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 It is deliquescent, or at the very least very hygroscopic. It's also fully incompatible with all common pyro metals, and ammonium perchlorate. The lengths one would have to go in order to seal in the stars (besides getting the copper nitrate dry in the first place, heat alone wont work), make this chemical rather obsolete and esoteric. Is there anything you dislike about copper oxide or other common colorants, or are you just looking to experiment?
