oldguy Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Skylighter has it on sale (right now) & other pyro supplies carry it..I am just curious if any of you know of any inexpensive bulk or scrap source?Does not have to be in a fine powder form either. Thanks for any responce.
Peret Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Silicon is not that easy to get hold of. Broken solar cells or microchip wafers would be all I could suggest, and you'd pay a lot more than Skylighter prices for them. Silicon is good to have, it makes nice hot primes, but it doesn't have many other uses so you don't need a lot.

You could try metal foundries, IIRC it is sometimes added as a flux or something when casting iron/steel.
dagabu Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 I bought a pound of it three years ago and use it in hot star prime, I still have half a pound left. I think you should grab a pound from Harry and if you seem to be going through it quickly, then start a search when its no longer a burning (sorry for the pun) need. Try a WTB on Passfire.
