hawaiiwerks Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 What is the difference with elemental sulfur pure and rubbermaker's sulfur? Will it make a difference if I'm using it for burst bp or lift bp? Thanks in advance.
Mumbles Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Assuming the elemental sulfur is truly pure, there should be no noticeable difference.
hawaiiwerks Posted January 21, 2011 Author Posted January 21, 2011 Assuming the elemental sulfur is truly pure, there should be no noticeable difference. so your saying that it doesn't matter? Because the price per lb. is about twice as much because the elemental sulfur cost twice as much as the rubbermaker's sulfur. Sorry I'm just trying to make sure because this is my first time making black powder. Thanks again.
Algenco Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Rubbermakers works fine, just bought another 50#
pyrochris732 Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 this is a good question.. id really love to know why one is more expensive than the other as well.
oldguy Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Assuming the products are of the same grade & purity. A lot has to do with Name Brand “marketing". Local stores here sell a couple pound box of diatomaceous earth for around $10. I happen to know the supply source & can get a pickup truck full of the same purity & grade material for $20.

NightHawkInLight Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 If the rubbermakers is half the price, buy it. Rubbermakers sulfur is the tried and true sulfur most used and most reliably acid free for use in pyrotechnics.
ghost808 Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 please tell me your not one of those clowns that adds sulfur to perc flash or chlorate flash (so many youtube people do) Oh no i don't add sulfur to normal flash with perchlorates. I only add sulfur to slow flash for breaks like :50: Kno330: Al20: sulfurReally slow flash. But for normal salutes and what not i find it absolutely unnecessary and pretty dumb. Just clarifying that
pyrochris732 Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 please tell me your not one of those clowns that adds sulfur to perc flash or chlorate flash (so many youtube people do) Ralph, you always have such a way with words
