Pretty green flame Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 Name: Oglesby's better pearl mixTpye: GlitterCreator: Lloyd Scott OglesbyColour/Effect: Dense sparkly tail The composition: Potassium nitrate-47Barium nitrate-10Sulfur-18Charcoal-10Aluminum (Atomized) -10Dextrin-5 Precautions/Incompatabilities: Barium nitrate is quite poisonous. And nitrates and fine aluminum don't go together very well so 1% H3BO3 should be added to keep the situation under control. Preaparation: Screen ingridients together several times and pump or roll.
Pretty green flame Posted September 26, 2006 Author Posted September 26, 2006 Bump A short movie of this star http://www.zippyvideos.com/5909146836041176/better_pearl/ Comments: Well, i have used a pretty coarse mesh aluminium and the full effect isn't revealed due to it burning on a stick suspended in mid air so some of the slag doesn't fly off, i also used hardwood charcoal so some orange sparks are present but a reactive charcoal should fix the problem. Ofcoarse a higher mesh aluminium will give a thicker tail (the formula calls for 12micron atomised) Anyway, please comment and write your experinces with this star, also post movies of it, if you have them.
