pyrochris732 Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 I got a ball mill barrel that was all metal inside and out, so I wanted something to coat it to muffle the sounds of media spinning inside of it as well as providing a gripped surface on the outside. I found plasti dip at home depot and after 1 coat, it seems to be really good stuff. It is used to normally coat handles of tools but I think this should be good for ball mill containers too. If anyone has tried this, does the stuff hold up against the wear and tear of the media hitting it? Thats my only concern. But I will do at least 3 coats for added peaceof mind. I will let you know how it turns out!
inonickname Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 On a spudgunning site I frequent, someone constructed a valve using plastidip as a sealant (rather than an o-ring or washer). Apparently it held up well even in fairly high pressure applications, so it should work fine in a mill barrel.
