asilentbob Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Don't know about the UK... but in the USA PET plastic is everywhere... synthesizing terephthalic acid from it involves refluxing the PET plastic chips with a strong base in ethylene glycol in a stainless steel container... IIRC... and the rest I forget...
