berry1 Posted October 24, 2010 Author Posted October 24, 2010 mmm! so no one does consumers thats strange
Updup Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 mmm! so no one does consumers thats strange Well You just posted this this morning or last night, so don't expect people to reply right off the bat. Also, we make fireworks, buying them just isn't the same.
Mumbles Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 There are more than just manufacturers in amateur pyro. Consumer stuff actually has a lot of neat effects that I keep my eye out for to replicate in larger shells or as inserts. I'd imagine this being a primarily US dominated forum, there wont be much of a stash right now. You guys have Nov. 5th coming up very soon, were as many of us have to wait until new years for a major consumer pyro holiday.
berry1 Posted October 24, 2010 Author Posted October 24, 2010 oh c*ap sorry about that guys i was thinking this is strange less than 2 weeks off and people havent got their stashes but i fogot yous dont do bonfire night so sorry about that i have noticed that this is more of a home made forum and i think thats great as im shore yous already remember me from a while agow i was interested in making aerial shells but i didnt have the right attitude i was obseced with flash and i didnt no where to get all the chems but ive got a guy that sells chems and i realy want to get into making fireworks so i have been collecting my lab equipment like hot plate, digital scales, beackers and in a week or so im going to be ordering the chems so any advice yous can give me would be great thanks callum
Updup Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 Well, Its great that you want to start making shells, why don't you run a few searchs on our forum for topics that will help you out? Also, when you post, you'll see a little button in the upper-right corner that has a check mark and a little "ABC" on it... Click it, please. we have told you before to spell check your posts.
davis050594 Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 I'll be getting my new years eve musical stash over the next month. Around $300 of product, and $100 of scab wiring and other random things. If anyone is looking to sell some shooters wire around my area (mo), I'm looking to buy some, new or used.
Mumbles Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 Leave the moderating to the people in charge please. Also, I don't believe there is any built in spell checker, it may be something in your browser itself.
Updup Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 Leave the moderating to the people in charge please. Also, I don't believe there is any built in spell checker, it may be something in your browser itself. Hmm, I think its built in to our forum.
Mumbles Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 I certainly don't have it. Like I said, probably a browser add in, much like I inexplicably have a twitter option in that same menu bar. I checked all the skins too just to make sure it wasn't specific to one of them.
AdmiralDonSnider Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 550 pounds is quite a lot of money. Cost is one reason why I make my own fireworks, but the investments necessary to "get things going" can be substantial too (as in a factory). Commercial fireworks do have educational value however.

Peret Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 There's no spell checker button on my browser. Doesn't need one. Firefox has it built in.
Skycastlefish Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 oh c*ap sorry about that guys i was thinking this is strange less than 2 weeks off and people havent got their stashes but i fogot yous dont do bonfire night so sorry about that I'm always looking for an excuse to to light off fireworks so I've been celebrating Nov 5th since I got into pyro. I know, its selfish to borrow a holiday from another country, but... I don't care. Its OK to borrow from the old country, right
Algenco Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 I'm always looking for an excuse to to light off fireworks so I've been celebrating Nov 5th since I got into pyro. I know, its selfish to borrow a holiday from another country, but... I don't care. Its OK to borrow from the old country, right I got you beat, my Wife insists that I "test" 3-4 times per week
Skycastlefish Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 I got you beat, my Wife insists that I "test" 3-4 times per week thats a great idea! I'll celebrate odd numbered days.
davis050594 Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 thats a great idea! I'll celebrate odd numbered days. Why limit it to that? Every day is a blessing that we don't deserve. Celebrate every day.To the op, I'm picking up some stuff Saturday. I'll post a picture of my current stash on Sunday, sound good? Also to anyone saying class c stuff is stupid or too expensive, you may be surprised to see good wholesale pricing. I'm putting on a pretty high quality 5 minute musical with about $280 in product, $350 including scab that I can re-use after the show, a liquid element igniter kit whch will last, and a few other things.
berry1 Posted October 27, 2010 Author Posted October 27, 2010 that sounds very good davis thanks & i dont see why you have to limit your self i have 9 big displays a year the way i look at it is enjoy your hobbie as for most of us its not just a celebrasion its a passion and all this about spell checks im getting quite sick of hearing it as theirs no spell check built in it may be on yours but i dont have it sorry but i would yous it if i had it
berry1 Posted October 27, 2010 Author Posted October 27, 2010 and why does some of yous think consumers are expensive i can do a good display for less than £150 i choose to make my budget £800 as i like to go mad on bonfire night but i could have a great display for £100
Updup Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 I did a nice little display on $50 [=, only for a few people though. Also, I can't remember who, might have been Dagabu, but when you are reusing scab wire, make sure its not too bent up or anything..the resistence increases with every stretch or bend, which might make it less reliable.

optimus Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 thanks for the advice but what the hell is scrab wire i use home made fuse and my home made ignitors to do my displays sorry it wa:glare:y be a us product Scab wire is just another name for firing wire: http://www.skylighter.com/mall/ignition.asp#GN5010
pyrokid Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 (edited) Scab wire is just another name for firing wire: http://www.skylighte...tion.asp#GN5010 In addition, using "scab wire" makes you sound pro. I love consumer fireworks, they are what got me into this hobby. You can put on a fantastic display for about 400 dollars, if that. You can make hybrid shows with both homemade and consumer fireworks, using the consumer stuff for body, and highlighting your homemade stuff. Edited October 27, 2010 by pyrokid
dagabu Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 (edited) Scab wire is just another name for firing wire: http://www.skylighte...tion.asp#GN5010 On a reel it is shooting wire, when wiring a front together and patching pieces in together, it is "scabbing" the wire together. Generally, the "trunk" wire is a multi wire telcom cable with a "D" end with more then 50 wires (25 pair) and that is connected to the controller box where the shooting wire is plugged into and then wire is added to the wire to make an entire front fire at the same time. Usually scab wire is a straight run and is usually in the best shape after a shoot. Of all the wire that is used, the sections of scab wire are usually still in pretty good shape after a shoot since there are usually no kinks in it. Edited October 27, 2010 by dagabu
