mabuse00 Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 See Topic. How do they compare? I would assume that the spongy stuff has a bigger surface and thus burns faster...?
Updup Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 (edited) What application do you want it for ? It sounds like he wants to know the preformance diffrences. Edited October 17, 2010 by Updup
dagabu Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Effect difference maybe but not performance I am afraid. In my experiences, sponge has a longer duration through its burn cycle and flake can be brighter but shorter lived. That said, I have Ti turnings that I ball mill until they are able to pass -20 mesh, I use 10% in BP an press it on top of my rocket fuel so I can follow the rocket to apogee. If the same Ti is used in the bottom shot, it burning duration is around 1/4 second. If I use sponge Ti in its place, I can get around a 1 second burn.

I've already got about 400µm spongy Ti and i like it, but I want the sparks to last longer.
