Fly Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 Well I think I screwed up.Have any of you made charcoal stars with out a binder?I pressed mine & there dryingnow. But I think I left my binder out .We get by with out binder when pressing BP, so I was hoping I don'thave to crush it & start over:unsure:. Fly:whistle:
Algenco Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 I don't think they'll withstand the burst without a binder sorry
jimbo Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 wouldn't pressing them in a press make a single tough grain like in a rocket.
Fly Posted August 29, 2010 Author Posted August 29, 2010 Ya I think your right Aglenco I pumped another batch from the same mix, but added dextrin this time. When they drywe will see how hard they are.But they seem to crumble in fine powder now, but there not dry yet.
JPW4369 Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 I have made the same mistake myself. Results were that most of the stars got dusted upon break and the rest burnt really fast.I would put them back into the ball mill.

Fly:whistle: Crush them and start over, there is no sense in wasting the chemicals. If you want to, use wheat paste (you can boil white flour too) to bind the stars wet. You will see a distinctly different effect then using dex or CMC.
