Cookieman Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 http://www.bbc.co.uk...hester-10996471 This guy bought fireworks in the USA then brought them in his luggage to the UK only getting stopped at Heathrow!!! Unbelievable!!! here in Canada we're not even allowed to carry toothpaste and most hand and face creams on your carryon. They even check your shoes for plastic explosives.
Peret Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Oh sure, "200 fireworks". Here we'd call them "a couple of Chinese firecrackers" <yawn>. He was fortunate to get busted in the UK instead of by the TSA, otherwise he'd probably be spending somewhat longer in the USA instead of being allowed to go home with his deadly explosives un-confiscated. Still, it's probably enough to get him on the US no-fly list for the rest of his life.
optimus Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Reminds me of the time customs confiscated a zippo lighter from me - with all the innards removed including flint and cotton wool, rendering it totally inert. They failed to notice, however, that I had accidentally left a rather large firecracker in my hand luggage. Oops
