pyrochris732 Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 So I think I found a real gem online. Some guy is selling his "rock tumbler" for 60 bucks. It is pretty old looking but comes with a 25 gallon drum and a 5 gallon drum. It must be pretty big. He said it only spins 30 revolutions per minute but he will be able to adjust the pulleys so it will spin about once every second, for me. He said the thing retailed for 1 grand when he got it! It actually looks like the hexagonal type ones that you can buy on pyrogear.com but bigger. Im going to take a look at it this week and probably buy it. Do you think 60 rpms is ok for this thing? Its pretty old, but would you say 60 is fair for something like that?

Mumbles Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 Assuming the 5 gallon jar is about like a 5 gallon bucket, 60 rpm is just about optimal for 0.75" media. So, when can we expect to see the big multibreak canister shells coming. Those jars will make a lot of comp.
pyrochris732 Posted August 1, 2010 Author Posted August 1, 2010 haha, im a long ways away from multibreaks but this is going to motivate me to step it up a notch. A few things i want to try next: color changing stars, crackling stars, and crossettes. I cant believe these machines retail for a thousand dollars. Why are they so expensive?
