TYRONEEZEKIEL Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 I just bought my first actual hemi shells, and i noticed that there are 2 holes for time fuse i presume. they are 3" hemis, one hemi is solid, and the other has 2 off center 1/4" holes? what exactly are these holes for, (I know at least one is for time fuse) and how should i go about closing the other off? Thanks again as always.
Ventsi Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 I have the same hemi's. What I do is put a piece of tape over one on the inside, fill the small cavity with hot glue and put two pieces of masking tape crossing on the outside, Viola! No hole. BTW, their holes are a bit too big for time fuse, this is what I do to my shells: http://www.amateurpyro.com/forums/topic/4661-cross-matching-and-passfires/page__p__60515&?do=findComment&comment=60515
Arthur Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 Lots of Chinese makers use two fuses for larger shells (inc 3" ) A tube goes in the holes pointing inwards, some QM points down the tube to the middle of the ball. The crossmatched time fuse goes in from the outside last. The time fuse is secured with a substantial fillet of glued string.
