ADP9 Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 Just wanted to inform everyone on an opportunity I'm getting this week. Not sure is anyone here is familar with the Grucci family and their well establish fireworks business. They are responsible for some of the biggest shows in the U.S. and Worldwide. Based out of Brookhaven, NY they've done numerous shows for presidental inaugurations, olympic games, etc. Well they are putting on a show this week in Oswego, NY at harborfest. I have to opportunity to help set up the show on the barge in Oswego's harbor for the show as well as meet some of the Grucci family. I'm excited as hell and know this will be the highlight of my summer. I'll try to get some pics of me with some 12"+ commercial shells, etc. If anyone lives within driving distance of Syracuse, NY or Oswego, You should come see the show. It's a world class show which they don't do very often. The show is at 9:00 on Sat. 29th at Harborfest. I leave tomorrow and can't wait.
ravaz Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 MMMmmmm World Class. That will be fun to watch. Have fun there! And for those that haven't seen Grucci in person, the ones I've been to up in NYC were special.
joker5 Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 have fun, its a whole lot of work. on the 4th i spent 33hours on site over 3 days. its called fireWORKS for a reason. but hey, its really cool to do professional shows for the first few times. then its just enjoyable work. dont know if i could do it more than a few times a year. ps, thats me with a 12 incher
ADP9 Posted July 28, 2006 Author Posted July 28, 2006 Well guys just to give an update it's been two days of hard work and wow.. It's the most fun work I've ever done. The guys are awesome and really cool. They've taught me a lot and I've gotten some sweet pictures of some 12 inchers and hundreds of 10's , 8's, 6's 5's 4's etc. This thing is going to be huge. I'm still in NY and the show isn't until saturday so I'll wait until I get home to post pictures but wow guys its a treat to get to do this stuff. The material I'm working with is impressive. The firing systems, Oxral e-match, 5 foot mortars, there's got to be over 1000 shells I mean I can make one and be very proud but damn! each shell I've loaded and wired I just sit there and think about the man hours (they are hand made). It's got to be the most enjoyable work ever. Can't wait to post pics. Hopefully I'll be on the bridge near Phil Grucci with the control panel when the show starts. We load the final shells and mines tomorrow! Wish me luck!
optimus Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Good luck, have fun, and try to stay green! I'm very jealous! Can't wait for the pics!
Mephistos Minion Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Damn you ADP9! Your opportunity overshadows mine 100 fold. I get to help fuse and load the mortars for the annual display down here (I think there is a 4" or so in the finale ) But it is still a foot in the door so to speak. Good luck with yours.
ADP9 Posted August 5, 2006 Author Posted August 5, 2006 Hey guys I'll try to post pics tomorrow but here's one of the show... hope you guys like http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/6857/1001094sp5.jpg
aquaman Posted August 6, 2006 Posted August 6, 2006 nice! Love the purple and pink. Do you get a video? Or just pics?
ADP9 Posted August 6, 2006 Author Posted August 6, 2006 I did get video, I'll have to recompress it into .mpeg or something smaller than it is. I'll try to do that.
shadopyro Posted August 6, 2006 Posted August 6, 2006 Very nice picture! though would be able to tell me how you were able to make the burning stars have a trail? Am i right in saying that you used long exposure? (when ever i try to take pictures of fireworks etc i always get jerky crappy pictures as an outcome!)
ADP9 Posted September 3, 2006 Author Posted September 3, 2006 Yeah I used a long exposure and held the camera as steady as possible haha. Here are some more long awaited pics. I must say it was quite an experience getting to do that kind of work! I also have a video of the finale. I'll try to compress it sometime and load it up...
Von Bass` Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 WOW They are amazing! I especially like the one of all the shells ontop of the tubes... this has inspired me I also love the last one... thats beautiful. One day...
moonshot Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 That is seriously bad ass! I thought the show I worked on was big and we only had two tens and a twelve for large shells. You definately got a once in a lifetime gig with that one. Most pyros can only dream of it. Thanks for sharing the experience!
ADP9 Posted December 12, 2006 Author Posted December 12, 2006 I promised a video a long time ago and finally put one up
