getting involved

I would like to get more involved with learning about the hobby by going to display shows and maybe helping set up, or shadowing some of the pyro tech guys. Problem is, I live in NJ and not sure where I can do this. Does anyone in this area have experience or info in show setups for the newbie? How do you get started?

Would also like to go to a large 1.3 factory to tour and check out their operations and whatnot. I start a job in 3 weeks and can get on a plane to go somewhere domestic if necessary.

I know im being vague, but im really just interested in the hobby as a whole so anything I can do to get more experience would be cool.

Regards,

That's to bad you live out there, we have Precocious Pyrotechnics and the NLP here in Minnesota. We just ran the practical field craft training last Saturday along with an open shoot where our builders can display their own work.

Like this one...

Maybe not my best ever

Beauty of a tail, what caused it to loose altitude and fly horizontal? I am wanting to get more into rockets and am interested in learning all I can.

You may want to call up Garden State Fireworks, they're in NJ.

I just posted that one for kicks and giggles. It was a 4x6" canister full of kitty litter to test the lift of the Steve Laduke Hybrid tooling and Hybrid fuel. Total weight of assembly was almost 900 grams. I attached a single 1/4 x 48" stick and the thrust bent the stick and did a 90° turn to the marsh.

It lifted great, the dummy was a test for a 200 insert shell (or four) that I will launch on the fourth of July.

I will post that video and more after the rocket competition is over.
