Pyropow3r Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 where i live i can only get kno3 ( Thats what you get for being an Aussie ) so i want to know all the kno3 based stars possible.... MMMMMmmmmm...... I'm feeling hungry for new star comps other than the usual TT and C6 this afternoon.... So if you know any please fire away down below.....
Weasel Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 (edited) This thread has a lot of compositions using only KNO3 charcoal and sulfur based comps http://www.amateurpy...oal-and-sulfur/ If you can get metal filings you can make metal streamers too. Turnings can be made brittle in an oven and then easily crushed smaller. Just be careful with sparking metals or metals that can become oxidized and rust, like steel. This thread is good for finding things in australia http://www.amateurpyro.com/forums/topic/2452-hints-and-tips-for-australians/ Good luck Edited April 26, 2010 by Weasel
pyrochris732 Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 yea glitters are sick, I made a glitter with kno3, charcoal, lampblack, and antimoney and it came out awesome.. first try. Real easy. Also, I have a good formula for metallic white stars that uses a lot of KNO3: KNO3- 55%Antimony- 14% (chinese needle)Sulfur - 17%Aluminum- Dark Pyro grade - 10%Dextrin- 4% These are called white #3. They burn fast but are blinding white if you burn one on the ground. I pumped them with a 3/8" star pump and meal primed them. I used 75% water/25% ethanol + some boric acid dissolved in it (dont forget your boric acid!). I have a videoclip of it but havent uploaded it yet.
Ralph Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 Note that that is antimony trisulfide and not antimony metal
