Arthur Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 I made some Slow Gold a while ago, half of them dried and worked fine the rest stayed damp til they went mouldy and soft! They are so soft I can barely pick them up without crumbling them. As a guess the dampness allowed the nitrate and dextrin to fuel a mould which may well have eaten the dextrin. There are about 500g of stars but they were the end of my Ti Sponge, which I'd rather not discard. Would it be reasonable to re powder the stars, weigh them and add 5% dextrin, and re pump them?
andyboy Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 I'd say go for it, but add some extra oxidizer. Don't forget the facemask and a little speedier drying this time.
Mumbles Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 It cant hurt anything. Worst case scenario, you can always make the stars into a slurry, and recover the Ti with lots of washing and a screen.
