Mumbles Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 He could be catching up on back orders if swervedriver purchased it before.
swervedriver Posted January 7, 2010 Author Posted January 7, 2010 Yeah, I talked to him today, it's best to call him right before you order and tell him it's for pyro use, he'll send you the better and smaller pieces. nice guy. pm me guys if anyone needs his phone number or web address.
derekroolz Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Mesquite charcoal is good as a readily available spark charcoal. It makes (from my experience) very nice sparks, and can be bought easily anywhere. But if you are looking to make black powder, mesquite is a last resort. With mesquite making a nice spark, are the mesquite chips for giving your fish that fire grilled flavor the same thing as regular mesquite or are they treated with something.
Mumbles Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Richtee would be the guy to ask, but I am under the impression that is is just Mesquite wood chips. Mesquite is a type of tree.
scarbelly Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 I'm pretty sure it's the same thing, but why go to the trouble if you're going to buy it? You might as well just buy it as charcoal rather than buying wood chips and making it into charcoal on your own.
swervedriver Posted January 20, 2010 Author Posted January 20, 2010 Got my alder charcoal from Custom Charcoal the other day, great stuff, nice small pieces, no wood included I can see, makes wicked fast BP. I'm all set for good bit.
Twotails Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 I tend to make my own, but might be tempted to buy some. I still have hardwood in my bin, as well as quite a bit of bamboo charcoal, so i think this will last untill spring.
