moof Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Sorry if this is in the incorrect section. For a while I have been looking for some decent rocket tools. Drilling cores usually makes for inconsistent results and I'm getting annoyed at all the CATOs I get. I don't have wood, plastic, or metal machining tools to create rocket tools so I must buy them. There are a few well known suppliers around on the internet and those include:skylighter.com firefox-fx.comwolterpyrotools.com From what I have heard, skylighter's pyro tools are pretty low quality (Made in China?), plus they are quite expensive.I don't know much about firefox, and they take forever to respond to emails.Wolter's stuff seems to be the gold standard, but they are super expensive. I would order from them if their prices were just a tad lower. Less than 2 years ago their 8oz BP rocket kit was $82 and now it is $96. I hope this post doesn't come off as whiny. I really want the best deal and I think Wolter's stuff is great, maybe just a step up from what I need. I'm gonna place an order from Wolter's website if I can't find another option -- which leads me to my main question, are there any other rocket tool suppliers? This is a small niche business, I know, but there must be a couple more options, I hope. Any help would be much appreciated.
firetech Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Search for the member "pianomistro" and contact him.
scarbelly Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 (edited) Why don't you take a look at pianomistro's tools? He's a member here, and his site is posted in the supplier review section. His tooling is much cheaper than wolter, and I believe is pretty high quality. Obviously you'll want to make sure they'll fit your needs, but I'll be surprised if they won't. Edit: Firetech beat me to it... damn Edited December 20, 2009 by scarbelly
Mumbles Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Ben Smith makes tools too. Slightly cheaper than wolter. www.firesmithtools.com
Pretty green flame Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Greg Boyd of pyrotooling.com used to make very good and cheap rocket tools. Is he still in business?
moof Posted December 22, 2009 Author Posted December 22, 2009 Thanks for the quick responses. pianomistro seems to have good, affordable stuff. I just need to see if he's reputable. Pretty green flame, I wanted to buy from Greg Boyd since a lot of people have purchased stuff from him in the past and vouch for him, however he doesn't really respond to my emails. He sent me a catalog of his stuff which referred to some guy named Steve Majdali who "does BP, strobe, and whistle." Would anyone know how to get in contact with any one of these two guys?

Look no farther! I have several of his tools, incredible prices, will do custom work, I have pictures on pyrobin of them all. Grant pianomistro@hotmail.com If you don't like them, I will buy them from you at your cost! I personally vouch for him, overalls and all! D
