Pyropow3r Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 My neibours get pissed if i dont warn them a few days before i do fireworks like payload rockets for example (they winge about there horses getting scared and need some time to move them to a differant paddock ffs) well the thing is i cant just ask them to move there horses like every 2 days lol man they would get pissed. so i do pyro on an anual basis (I stock pile my fireworks until then and do one big shoot) so in the meen time i need quiet fireworks to keep me satisfied i already do things like gerbs spinners whells etc. so i need more ideas for quiet pyro devices what do you know please let me know..... what you know or think ???
Gunzway Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 I think 12" lampares with whistle spolettes would be a good idea. There's not many very quiet fireworks. Wheels seem to be predominately the best device to make when you need to keep low on sound as they can take some time constructing and there's various effects you can implement. Roman candles might be an idea, small ones aren't that loud and they're quite a difficult device to master with timing and consistency with heights etc. Hummers might be an option, strobe pots and fountains can be entertaining. Personally, I would try to organize them to move their horses a few times a year.
Pyropow3r Posted December 14, 2009 Author Posted December 14, 2009 UPDATE The fireworks can make some noise (not to much like a report or a strong burst) and can also fly in the air like a small bottle rocket for example cmon more ideas keep em coming.....

In that case, girandolas. They're great project and most certainly a difficult one. It sounds like you own some land, which makes it idealistic to do them. Main problem is that they can fly unpredictably and some can get quite heavy and could cause damage, but with land no problems. You can put small headers onto them as well, but they're good to just fly solo too. Not to mention building the frame, fusing it and making the drivers does take some time; so you can spend a decent amount of time on one and will keep you occupied on a rainy day. They're difficult to get working flawlessly as previously said, but once 'mastered' they're one of the more entertaining and impressive pyrotechnic devices around.

Look for the 5 shot cake, it was so easy and took the edge off my pyro jonesing I was experiencing. I will do small mines using mutt stars and a tiny charge of fuse powder/7FA for lift. They are about as quiet as a good hand clap. The neighbors don't even look out their windows anymore. D
firetech Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 To be honest, I get a kick out of firing stars in my star gun. The noise from the visco burning it louder than the lift. The stars are 1/4'' in a 1/2'' tube with a heaping 1/4'' teaspoon of granulated for lift.
Pyropow3r Posted December 15, 2009 Author Posted December 15, 2009 LoL... I should make a sign out of lances telling them to move their horses..... That will get their attention.
psyco_1322 Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 LoL... I should make a sign out of lances telling them to move their horses..... That will get their attention. Ahahaha.... Bp rockets are pretty quite, core burners or end burners, they don't make that much noise. If you want to add some garnishment, use a star dump. A shell that is only taped at the seem with some loose meal doesn't make much noise. Strobes, lacy willows, or long tailed stars look nice falling from high up. Or even nitrate/sugar rockets will be quite.

I will defiantly try this one but i will do it small scale first. like a 3/4 inch shell on top of a 1/4 inch bottle rocket.
