Pyropow3r Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 where do i start..... I want a bright or nice colored star comp for use in stars/lances/fountains but mainly fountains and lances.but i dont want to be useing chems like KP strontium nitrate magnesium Ti etc. yes i am talking about organic stars here!!! I know its a hard thing to ask for but it is possibile. Because 6/3/1 Kno3/sulfur/Bp makes a really nice blinding white star mix (but very hard to ignite requires lots of priming) also makes lots of dross but has a insanely long burn time PERFECT for lances/ flares which is what i use it for (illuminates to whole paddock) so...... what do you guys know or think any other good comps you know about that use easy chems.... Let me know.

Twotails Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 Well, I have a few, but they all contian aluminum.
TheEskimo Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 Correct me if I'm wrong, but "organic" stars refer to stars that do not have metal fuels (Mg, MgAl, Al, etc.). To get any organic colors, you WILL need to use KP, AP, or KCLO3. KNO3 just doesn't do anything worth beans for anything apart from white. For a more intense white, go for KNO3-based metal-fueled lances. You are stuck with white for now, until you can get some KP, KCLO3 or AP; or strontium/barium nitrates. For fountains, go for KNO3 comps with lots of charcoal. Varying the mesh-size of the charcoal will give different sparks. Adding in metal shavings will add bright sparks.
Pyropow3r Posted December 15, 2009 Author Posted December 15, 2009 Yeah the 6/3/1 Kno3/sulfur/bp white star mix isn't the best for fountains because is make lots of dross but to fix this probem i just ram 1 increment of full strength bp every now and then to clear the nozzle. when this increment of bp kicks in it makes a huge column of orange sparks as all the slag gets blown out. A really nice effects i must say..... Putin 1 increment of bp then 1 increment of white star mix through the whole fountain make a good effect as the column of orange sparks and a white flames rises falls and alternates in between each other..... you must try this great effect.....
