AdmiralDonSnider Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 This new year´s eve definately needs some comets, so I´m currently choosing the right tooling to give stars matching the 30mm mortars I use for my bombettes. I figured I need a 9/8" pump which would give stars 28,6mm in diameter. Or do you think I should go for more clearance and choose 17/16" (27mm)? Once a size is chosen, I want three interchangable plungers, one for plain comets, one to give tipped (cavity) comets and a third one for split comets (crossettes). The former two designs are quite straightforward, but I´m unsure about the dimensions of the cruciform tip of the latter in case of 1 1/8" pump diameter? Does anyone have a 1 1/8" crossette pump? Could anyone share the exact dimensions, please? Thanks a lot!

AdmiralDonSnider Posted December 10, 2009 Author Posted December 10, 2009 (edited) Grant has already sent me a PM. He found data for a 3/4" pump and assumed that the dimensions of the cruciform extension are simply scaled with the size of the pump, with the ratio of its specifications remaining constant. Don´t know if he´s right... Other than that, what is the lenght of a crossette star like? Usual comets often are same lenght as diameter, but crossettes seem to be made longer, right? One more quick question: what is a good material to make a pump of, in terms of corrosion and durability? Edited December 10, 2009 by AdmiralDonSnider
