jukka Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 Well, this is really noop question I like to build as much as possible my own tools + shipping is always expencive so.. where did u get your mesh to build your own screens? My small rough mesh is kitchen sieve but I have no idea where to get more dense net, e.g. 50mesh.
AdmiralDonSnider Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 Although in case of kitchen sieves you rarely if ever know the mesh size, they generally serve well as mixing screens, where sizes ranging between 16 and 60 mesh -depending on the comp and your personal preference - are usually employed. Other than that, you´re right that you need other fractions, e.g. 80 mesh, 120 mesh etc. to allow you to correspond closely to specifications given in formulas, where particle size often is a critical variable.I bought mine from Inoxia GB, their woven mesh is high quality. I highly recommend buying the mesh large enough. Small pieces e.g. 4x4" may save money, but the resulting small screens are extremely unconvenient in every day use. 30x30cm is a good size for a square sieve. Having access to a nest of sieves (many fractions e.g. from 4 to 300 mesh) is nice, but such an elaborate fractioning is not necessary in most every day applications. I personally have screens from 3 to 400 mesh in close intervals, but only use 40, 60, 80 and 120 frequently. If you´re planning to corn and separate your BP, you will also need 4, 10/12, 16, and 20. Hope this helps...
jukka Posted December 8, 2009 Author Posted December 8, 2009 This helps a lot, thank you! After googleing my fingers red, it seems that I really need to get proper mesh off shore.Hopefully the shipping price is not that high. Ill start with Inoxia..

Arthur Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 Mconme on ebay .co.uk has a good selection of mesh and sheet sizes. 180442094409Cooperman on UKPS has a web shop with 12" squares of various meshes. http://www.nexusgamers.co.uk/catalog/index.phpBoth supply to europe Get a set of stacking sandwich boxes and melt the mesh into the bottom carefully with a soldering iron or similar. One lid for the top, one complete box for the bottom Chose the sixe according to your needs There are ranges for grading BP and ranges for grading ingredients. there needs to be a separate sieve set for clorate compounds. BP is 4 - 40 mesh according to the grain size, ingredients can be from 40mesh to 300 mesh according to the recipie and the compound.
scarbelly Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 (edited) http://www.drillspot.com/ has a lot of hardware and such, including mesh screens of various meshes. I'm pretty sure that most of their stuff is from grainger. They have screens with meshes of up to at least 325 (I didn't look if they have higher mesh count screens.) I wouldn't say they're too expensive, but I don't know about shipping internationally... Edited December 9, 2009 by scarbelly
