xxMIKExx Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 this is a timed detinator i invented it works great and it is compact and cheap! i used a kitchen timer i got from a dollar store and the transistor i got from an old computer motherboard it says 9652 d45h3a on it but i dont know what that means. it looks like this:http://www.interq.or.jp/japan/se-inoue/gif/2sd880e.gif here is the scematic i made sorry it sucks:http://img459.imageshack.us/img459/6757/timedetinator6qp.jpg and this is what it looks like: if you cant get the transistor to work you can use a relay but that makes ti bigger and you may need two batteries. PM me if you need help (SORRY THESE PICS ARE HUGE AND MY LIGHTING/CAMERA IS TERRIBLE)
justanotherpyro Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 Nice work. You really need to resize those pictures though.
al93535 Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 Those pictures are WAY too big, and they don't really show anything. I edited them out. Please post a link to them from a photobucket account or something similar. Edit: We don't talk about HE outside the HE section, just letting you know so it doesn't start. Also Mike, your grammer, spelling, and capitalization leaves something to be desired. Please make your next post abit better. Thank you!
Rogue Chemist Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 This is a copy of a totse text file. It does not work with most transistor values. Back in the day when I tried, nothing would happen except fry the transistor. With the propper transistor it might work, might not.
xxMIKExx Posted June 14, 2006 Author Posted June 14, 2006 I did not get this off totse.com i created it myself. Sorry about the spelling, grammer, ect... You are correct, many transistors may not work (i got lucky and found one in a computer that did). There is also a version i made with a relay in place of the transistor. This version may need another battery in series with the relay and timer makeing it bigger but easier to build http://img373.imageshack.us/img373/4186/timedetinatorrelay8ng.jpg http://www.ustr.net/relay1a.jpgDiagram of a relay (best one i could find/not the size of the one used in the detinator) Simple overview:A relay is like a switch except when a current passes through the bottom wires (the ones going to the timer) an electromagnet closes a small switch for current to flow through the e-match. The timer provides current to the electromagnet in the relay closing the switch on the e-match circuit. PROBLEM: Most small timesr are not powerful to close the switch in the relay therefore, a battery is added in series with the times and relay to make it strong enough to make it work. This can be avoided by getting a bigger timer, or a more sensitive relay (if you can find one) Relays can be bought from radioshack or (as i have found) in cordless phone bases.
