New Year 2010 is coming ! :)

What are you going to make ? What are your projets ?

I did my first pyro show 2 years ago and last year, nothing..

But this year, I will make some 3" and 4" spherical and canister shells (don't know what yet), some starmines, fountains and maybe a 25 shots cake =)

But we have hardly time, only one month !

I'm planing for a bunch of 2" cannisters, lots of 2.25" mines, some 1" ID fountains, a 25 shot 3/4" cake[small world?], one or two multi break/ timed report 2.5" Italian salamis. And a few 3" insert color and glitter star mines.

And maybe some of Dan's Super Sparklers!

I'm planing on doing two new year shows, one for each side of the family (one in Kentucky one in Tenessee).

I've made 20 1.5" canister shells and a rack for five, so each show will have 6 shells a 7 shot cake, mabye some rockets, and some BIG fountains.

I'm making a lot of stuff right now, but for New years I'm going to be with my girl! I understand what you say... "but NY = fireworks... surely you cannot be forgetting that"

Maybe this should be in the occasional happiness thread. I'll be with her for the first time in six months! It will be good :D ;)

Fireworks before, fireworks after, but none on the night for me...

Im doing alot of 2-4 inch shell's..with a handfull of 6's...might toss in some cake's...Nothing really set in stone as of yet...But plenty of shell's for sure.

a few shells, a few fountins, a nice setpeice( Gerb, to arial, to report finish) its going to look like a X-mas gift. possably 4 Arial shots(not sure what though), a large fountin in the center, and it will lead to a report at the bottom, just large enough to burst through the pre cut holes in the box. maby a few rockets headed with a small flare.

right now its all up in the air.

I've got 15 80mm canister, 20 3" balls and 5 3" Star w/ salute mines in the works. I should really start upping the pace, still have to make a couple kilos of stars and a lot of black powder.I'll probably make a couple of colour and report canisters if I find the time. I shall ofcourse post pictures when the stuff is ready ^_^

I´ll have some 3" and 4" canisters coming up. Quite a bunch of my 30mm (1 1/4") color bombettes will make the main part of the show, combined with 30mm crackling matrix comets. I´m also busy to start out with my 3" spheres, but I fear there won´t be enough time left for optimization. :D

Looks like we will be staying home for New Years.

I never actually shoot anything here at home, but this year I have a bunch of 12 ounce "Miller Lite Canisters" I might try :D :D

You guys seem to shoot a lot for new years. I hardly ever see anyone shooting fireworks around where I live. Its still an iffy thing around my area though, its just been legal to shoot in my county for about 2 years now on the 4th. I usually shoot like 1-3 things and thats it.

Might put up a nice rocket with heavy salute on top...I like hearing the echo :D

Ill have a handful of some 2 and 3 inch ball shells to shoot on new years eve, and possibly a small cake. Who knows I might make up a few other things to shoot... only time will tell. ;) Edited by Xtreme Pyro

Should have a bit of everything including: fountains, jumping crackers, rockets, hummers, star mines and a wheel or two. Though it will be predominately aerial shells, as I find them the best to watch and build. Nothing beats just mucking around putting rings into shells, adding an insert or two and just seeing the different effects you can achieve. Probably 24 2" shells, 20+ 3" shells and maybe a large 3" multibreak for at the end ot he night. Nothing in concrete yet, but I shall be busy during the time I got off and I might even run a small 'class' or two for the family to have a build and a little competition thing.

Im going to launch my big multibreak ive been working on. I am also going to launch a bunch of 3 inch ball and canister shells. TO finish off the show I am going to shoot a 5 inch crosette ball shell.

I've ordered a 1/4" end burner rocket tooling set, so hopefully, if i have enough time, i'll be able to set off a couple of bottle rockets this New Years :P

I'm envious of the amount of fireworks you all will be making and the shows you'll be putting on, hopefully one day i can do so too. But at the moment, i'm very far off doing such an awesome thing.

If I had someplace to shoot I would put some up but it looks like it is just going to be a few homemade cakes and small comets. <_<

I'm making a lot of stars right now.

I will shoot six 3" shells with shimizu red, blue, purple and green, granite stars and Winokur 26. I will also shoot six 4" shells with chrysanthenum 8 to blue, red ruby to emerald green, D1 glitter, Winokur 31, Winokur 20 and Ofca Silver Streamer. The rest of the stars will be put in some mines..

For the fountains I will put some green mix with 25% of Fe, another with 25% Al atomized and the last one only with green mix.

I'm a bit disapointed because I don't think I'd make my cake, not enough time..

I have some questions though. Is chrysanthenum 8 easy to roll ? It contains a lot of charcoal.. And do I need to put a relay layer between the 2 two composition ? With the ruby/emerald stars I don't think I will, because if I put a relay layer between, I will need to put a layer of prime and the stars will be too large..

Pictures coming soon

You will need to prime the ruby/emerald anyway, whether there is a relay around it or not. Personally I like a millimetre of relay around cores, but that's up to your taste.

This year it will be rockets with 3" headers, fountains, gerbs, hummers and a few bangers. I'm celebrating NYE in a park in the inner city, so no shells this time. I'm still a bit doubting about the rockets. A 3" header is somewhat big for in the middle of a park considering my average break size.

Posted
Of course I need to prime the ruby red, but what I was meaning is, if I put a relay, the relay will not be enough hot to light emerald green so I will need to add a SECOND layer of prime AFTER the relay..

I'm expecting to have about 100 devices set up for a display complete with the extra devices it takes for a finale. It includes rockets, shells, mines, stingers, comets, cakes, bottle rocket racks, wheels and maybe a girandola. It's becoming an annual activity to put on a display that drastically surpasses the previous years. I'm hoping the best for this one...

I have a 4shot 3" rack and a 6shot 2" rack. There are seven 3" shells and six 2" mines in the stash. Maybe I'll make some 1" gerbs later. The shells have ch. streamer and glitter stars. The mines have colored stars. Edited by 50AE

There will be many more. Need to test one first, I need to make sure if Rice hulls and two teaspoons of flash will break them hard enough.

Very nice job PGF! Those are some nicely pasted shells, did you use wheat paste and kraft?

Also, I wouln't be worryed about 2 tsp of flash not breaking them, with my small experience just adding some granulated black powder as a booster will be more then enough to tear them to shreads.

Well, not exactly craft, some sort of light paper and wheat paste, I prefer to paste them with more layers of thinner paper which gives a more brittle shell which I belive gives a more symetrical break.

If I do paste my shells, I think I'm going to use a thiner paper aswell. For pyro use, I bought a cheap roll of masking paper, nice and thin, yet really strong!
