Bruce Steyding rockets

This is probably a shot in the dark...

Bruce Steyding is a fellow out in CA, I don't even know if he is still doing rockets. He made 20# and 60# BP rockets and did a video about making them. I have searched all over the place for Bruce's video and cannot find it. Fireworks News, Skylighter, you name it, unable to find it. I think the video was done in the mid 90s. One site has a few 2002 or 2003 pictures of Bruce and his rockets at a meet.

Rockets of this size is something I do not plan doing anytime soon, perhaps not at all. Looks like Bruce's work is a combination of pyrotechnic and high performance rocketry. The few pictures and bits of information I have found on his rockets is fascinating and to acquire a copy of his video would make for a unique keepsake.

If anyone owns a copy of Bruce's video please PM me on how to go about getting it.

Thanks.

Have you tried pyrobin or youtube.

2 and 3" ID respectively I do believe.

This is about the closest I have found yet.

From what I found on rec.pyro, people seemed to be getting the video directly from Bruce himself. I unfortunately do not have any sort of contact details for him.

Guys thanks for the interest and effort. B)

I did see that fireworks news item a while back, that is the closest thing I have found, too, so far. I have a journalism background that usually pays-off when I am pursuing something. I must be getting rusty.

I read a thread on rec.pyro from the early 90s that had Steyding's phone # listed. Guess I will have to see if it still works. Also read on rec.pyro that a deal to distribute the video fell through, also were some references to having to contact the man himself.

Like I said, these rockets are fascinating - 2" and 3" id diameters. From what I have read on other forums, not sure if the motor casing is natural gas line (fiberglass) or other. The nozzle is formed from dampened Durham's wood putty. These rockets are BP, that's what makes it all the more interesting because Bruce's rockets are hitting thousands of feet.

I found and downloaded a video clip of one of these rockets. I forgot where it came from. Will look for it and post a link. Again, I don't have plans anytime soon to build something this big. This is serious, dangerous stuff and also a lot of materials involved.

You might want to see if anyone from passfire has current details. Bruce is a member of the WPA, and I've seen references to him to doing seminars as recently as 2003 or 2004. Someone might have an e-mail address or current phone number, or even the videos themselves.

I'd find it hard to believe that no one has a copy handy, especially someone like Steve LaDuke, Dan Thames, or Danny Creagan.
