usatrapper Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Made a beautiful C6-5 rocket, It was exactly 3 feet tall. First launch was spectacular everything went according to plan. Second launch, the wind picks up right after ejection and the chute gets caught in a huge tree that is almost 100 ft tall. I guess theres no getting this rocket back unless the cord breaks, but then again tis tree has a very large amount of branches.
Twotails Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 That sucks, But maby it will get blown out sometime soon. Worsecase scinario, get a ladder, and a long stick, or try to hook it with a rope/gaff and pull it down.
firetech Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Don't even get my started...Thats happened to me way to many times...
usatrapper Posted November 23, 2009 Author Posted November 23, 2009 fortunatley its the first time this has happend to me.. Its just a shame, it was the nicest one ive built by far.
jm82792 Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 (edited) I'd climb the tree if it's stable,I've topped/cut the tops off of 50 foot Douglas furs and I think it wouldn't be that bad if it's really sturdy and not the fringe/edge of the tree. Edited November 23, 2009 by jm82792
TYRONEEZEKIEL Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 I wish I had a nickel for every rocket I have had hung in a tree or on power lines. I would be a very rich man. Ive usually brought a ladder, climbed the tree, or used one of those "old-people-high-shelf-grabbers" which I jerry rigged an extension to for those really high rockets.
TheSidewinder Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 usatrapper, are you a fisherman? If so, I think you can see where I'm headed, hmmm?

I actually am , but you have no idea. this tree is really big. theres no gettin it back.
TheSidewinder Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 OK, 100 feet straight up... hmm... are you an archer then? Don't give up the ship just yet. Get creative. Pay an annoying neighbor boy to climb up and retrieve it. Whether he falls or retrieves it, that's a win-win.
psyco_1322 Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Or just call up a tree service and ask them nicely if they could bring out a bucket truck and get your rocket down. Offer them a payment even.
gordohigh Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 A crane maybe, but a bucket truck will not get close unless there are some massive ones I've not seen. As far as an arrow, that might be a bad idea too, being that it must come down. Shooting the branch might work but same problem, bullets must fall too. I'm curious though, not having much experience with big rockets, whats it made of and why so much work to replace it? Was it a machined tube of some sort? Anyway, I wish you luck in getting it back !! PS, I wish you rocket guys would post more details about your rocket construction so I/we could learn more and not have so many cato's.
