PyroMan LTU Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 (edited) Hello, Few day ago i came up with an idea how to make paper tape quick match mashine. the mashine itself is very simple. The metal part I found laying around, I belive it was from sliding doors, at the first end there are three 8mm ID 22mm OD bearings. In the middle there's a funnel which lays BP in a nice row. All you have to do is pull with you're right hand and fold it with you're left. For me it uses 20g of 20-40mesh granulated bp for 6 meters of Qm. If someone will make this please inform how much powder gr/metre does it use for you. http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k424/fa...24/PICT0048.jpghttp://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k424/fa...24/PICT0049.jpghttp://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k424/fa...24/PICT0050.jpghttp://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k424/fa...24/PICT0052.jpghttp://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k424/fa...24/PICT0054.jpghttp://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k424/fa...24/PICT0055.jpghttp://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k424/fa...24/PICT0056.jpghttp://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k424/fa...24/PICT0058.jpghttp://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k424/fa...24/PICT0060.jpg Best Regards PyroMan Edited October 31, 2009 by PyroMan LTU
dagabu Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 Oh THANKS!!!! Now I have to build something else, dang it! Hmmmm, 1/4" tape on the bottom, funnel, 1" tape coming down at the end, another set of rollers, instant sticky tape!! D
Arthur Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 Are you certain that the product is quick match? It looks more like sticky match. Is the product almost instant?
Mumbles Posted November 1, 2009 Posted November 1, 2009 I don't know what to call this stuff. It's not quite sticky match. Sticky match has a sticky part after manufacture for fusing lances and stuff. It can probably be used wherever quickmatch can. Maybe not as a passfire for shells.
dagabu Posted November 1, 2009 Posted November 1, 2009 Are you certain that the product is quick match? It looks more like sticky match. Is the product almost instant? Sticky match is patented, sticky type match is adhesive, which is what I was talking about. Clear tape (cellophane) with BP is quick match and carries a patent. this quick match is not patented and is quick match not stick match because it is closed on itself and is made from masking tape. Cellophane shrinks and all but evaporates upon ignition while masking tape will stay stuck and smolder. Looks the same but is very different.D
PyroMan LTU Posted November 1, 2009 Author Posted November 1, 2009 I use it everywere as a QM and it works fine: for firing shells, mines, comets anywhere you need an instant fire transfer. PyroMan
andyboy Posted November 1, 2009 Posted November 1, 2009 Now, to incorporate blackmatch and a way to seal it without using your fingers..... Nice, I will try it since I have the same type of metal piece laying around.
derekroolz Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 I have been trying to make this stuff and succeeded in making a slow match that doesn't burn very well or is even worthy of being fuse. It is my BP that is the problem, I have tried every ratio worthy of being lift, with all the charcoals. in different methods such as the CIA, dry without any ball milling and with ball milling. Even have granulated and tried coating in rice hulls and still this CRAPPY slow burning sh**. Any help....PLZ

PyroMan I have a bunch of uni-strut too so I am going to make a open faced sticky and closed face paper but with 1" and 2' masking. Uh, in January sometime... maybe . D
Updup Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 Wow, what a fantastic idea! Now just glue two pices of wood at the end to close it and all you have to do is pull the tape! Sqeezer / l> <l l l l l Funnel l l / (l(O)l) l l l l l l l _ l Tape l l l l / l l l l
Arthur Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 Derekrools Go to the BP threads that exist already and sort out your BP before you comment about this method which seem to work well for those without commercial QM. (or with the masochistic desire to make their own regardless!)

(or with the masochistic desire to make their own regardless!) I have been on the forum long enough to know that, so therefore I already have. maybe there are a few I missed and you can point me to some that helped you out the most.
Mumbles Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 Try re-reading the threads. it's quite obvious you didn't learn anything from them. The information is there.
Arthur Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 The few things that helped me with BP were1/ reliable source of good willow charcoal2/ upgrading from a "2pound" rock tumbler to a "2.25kilo" tumbler.

dagabu Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 Sounds like a good idea I just got to make my own ball mill. I have Sponburg ball mill jars for $29.00, you choose the color, they are cheaper to ship if you get more than one. Average shipping is $13.00 to the lower 48 for one jar. D
KruseMissile Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 dagabu makes great jars! I just got 3 and they are top notch!

Fred Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 Matchtape made of three layers of adhesive tape:Scotch tape completely covered with BP and enclosed with paper tape from both sides. One can rapidly make lots of tapematch with this machine:http://www.pyrobin.com/files/exportpic.jpg Tutorial (german language), machine is visible at page 4:http://www.pyrobin.com/files/tapematchklus.pdf
Plasm7 Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 I have two motors that will work well for a ballmill pm me if interested.
