ddewees Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 After mixing with Vaseline and LT, it became almost impossible to screen/rice, so I rolled out the "dough" and cut it into stars. It's been sitting out for over a week now, and still has the consistency of play-do. It takes fire easily, and burns vigorously... but refuses to dry/set. :/ It's actually kind of fun to work with, you can form/press it with your fingers, but seems useless other than for lance or flares. Has the LT softened the resin, and caused it to remain in this state (without possibly heat), or do you think the Vaseline is causing this behavior?
Mumbles Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 How much vaseline did you end up using? Can you still smell any odor of the lacquer thinner?
ddewees Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 I think I used 5%, and no odor of LT. It does leave a greasy film on your hands though (minor).
Maserface Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 I think the Vaseline would slow the stuff way too far down, the two that flew the best for me were similar to green and red, (lime and lavender) they were pressed dry. and they still arced like hell.
ddewees Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 I agree... I just found the consistency strange after all this time. I'll press them dry... my press should be here on Friday.
Maserface Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 it is strange for sure, we might need another rendezvous
