stug161 Posted September 6, 2009 Posted September 6, 2009 Not sure where to put this, so here it is. A few months ago there was a T.V. show with a couple guys that had super high speed video cameras. Like super fast, maybe one million frames per second(I may be a bit nuts on that figure). They did all kinds of crazy things with them, so you could see things happen at super slow motion speeds. I got thinking how cool, and educational it could be to see a shell break in slow motion. It would be pretty tricky to get the lighting and or focus right I guess, but with a blast shield I think it could be done. Has anyone every done anything like that? Do you think it could be done? I wonder who we could get with to try to get that done. Robert.. Think of the possibilities...
optimus Posted September 6, 2009 Posted September 6, 2009 (edited) This is worth a watch. Really interesting video showing a transparent rocket motor and header. You can see the stars swimming around in the hot gasses before the prime takes fire! http://www.pyrobin.com/files/fireworks-slomo-german.wmv Couldn't find any more shell breaks, but there are a few nice slow-mo videos of rocket motors, tannerite and other pyro here: http://www.lucidmovement.com/?cat=46 There are more out there I'm sure... EDIT: few more here... I'm done searching for now : ) http://starflightinc.com/HighSpeedVids.html Edited September 6, 2009 by optimus
